WITH climate change now critical, Galeri Senikita is hosting an exhibition about the issue.

Titled “Ambil Peduli” (“Show Concern”), the artworks call attention to bird migration, heavier rainfall, stronger ocean waves and hotter temperatures caused by climate woes.

It is supported by Encorp Bhd, developer of Strand Mall in Petaling Jaya which houses Galeri Senikita.

Present at the launch were Encorp group chief executive officer Hazurin Harun, exhibition curator Shamsul Hezri and Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) director-general Datuk Amiruddin Satar.

Amiruddin said Felda considered the arts an aspect of the organisation’s social development efforts in uplifting three generations of communities through palm oil and rubber plantation industries.

Hazurin said, “Art exhibitions like this boosts Strand Mall’s appeal as an artistic hub, promoting learning and community development through art, culture and literary events.”

Shamsul, whose artworks are part of the show, explained that Galeri Senikita aimed to use visual arts as a medium to draw public focus to climate change.

“Campaigns on climate change awareness, in any form, must be an ongoing effort,” he said.

Boosting the launch were cultural activist and author Raja Ahmad Aminullah, producer and director Irwan Junaidy and environmental activist Herman Zokapli, among others.

“Ambil Peduli” is on until March 9 at Lot G39, ground floor of Strand Mall, Kota Damansara, from 11am to 7pm daily.
